Description

A so-called "hybrid heating" system combines the FAST/SPS process with one or more heating systems that typically apply heat to the pressing tool systems from the outside. This allows the thermal gradients of a standard FAST/SPS setup—which generally run from the inside out—to be balanced by the oppositely directed gradients of the additional heating system. Further improvements are achieved regarding heating rates and temperature uniformity, while retaining all the aforementioned benefits.

Hybrid technology proves particularly advantageous for preventing radial temperature gradients in large-format components or when processing materials with insufficient thermal conductivity.

Nanomaterials can be sintered without significant grain growth:
- FGMs (Functionally Graded Materials)
- Composite materials
- Innovative hard metals
- Aluminum and copper alloys, as well as intermetallic compounds
- Structural and functional ceramics
